You see, starcraft 2 is free to play. That is: the base game (wings of liberty) consisting of the Terran campaign and basic online ladder play is completely free since November. The expansions contain the other two campaigns, so 'starcraft 2' is in a way all three. Download games and applications from Blizzard and partners. StarCraft 2’s free-to-play model appears to be pretty wide open, with the Wings of Liberty campaign and unranked and custom multiplayer modes immediately available to everyone. The Ranked Ladder will also be available for free provided you complete 10 “First Wins of the Day” in either Unranked or Versus AI modes.
